Outcomes of Toddlers with Speech/Language Delays: A Follow-up at Kindergarten

Years of Study: 2003-2004

Very little information is available about the developmental progress of children who are identified as having speech/language delays when they are very young. Children who received speech/language intervention in 1999-2000 through the Toddler Talk program at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario will be invited to participate in this pilot study. The children are now completing senior kindergarten; in this study, their current level of development in both speech/language and motor areas will be assessed. The objective of the study is to determine whether information gathered from parents and speech/language pathologists when they were toddlers is predictive of outcomes.
