Sandra VanderKaay completed her PhD (2018) in the School of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Moll. Her thesis, titled Ethical Decision-Making in Occupational Therapy in Canada, involved three studies that looked at three distinct aspects of ethical decision-making. Results of these studies were intended to support occupational therapists in ethical decision-making and to highlight areas for additional study to further support ethical occupational therapy practice in Canada. Since completing her PhD Sandra has conducted data analysis for a realist synthesis examining tiered approaches to delivering rehabilitation services in education settings. Sandra’s post-doctoral fellowship at CanChild is under the supervision of Dr. Wenonah Campbell and is focused on extending research and knowledge regarding inclusive models of school-based service delivery.
Sandra is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University. Her teaching foci include clinical reasoning in rehabilitation and professional reasoning and skills in pediatric occupational therapy practice. Sandra is a registered occupational therapist. Her clinical background includes both school health support services and pediatric rehabilitation.
