Dr. Khush Amaria
Khush Amaria, Ph.D., C.Psych is a Clinical and Health Psychologist in the Department of Psychology and Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Dr. Amaria completed a 2-year specialized clinical-research health psychology post-doctoral fellowship held at SickKids, followed by a 1-year Research Associate position in the Chronic Pain Program, Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. In her current role, Dr. Amaria serves as Team Lead for the Good 2 Go Transition Program and works to build and share evidence-based practices that support the transition and empowerment of all youth with special health care needs through both their own development and the healthcare system. This includes leading SickKids’ Good 2 Go Transition Clinic—an outpatient program that provides treatment and support to any adolescent with special health care needs or chronic health conditions struggling with transitions issues.
Dr. Amaria’s research interests include evaluating the impact of currently available transitions resources and in the development of new and innovative transition interventions. Currently, Dr. Amaria serves at the Co-Chair for a Community of Practice with the Canadian Association for Paediatric Health Centres (CAPHC). In this role, she is focusing on developing clinical practice guidelines for paedatric to adult healthcare transitions for nation-wide application. As a psychologist with competency in treating the clinical and health psychology needs of children, adolescents and adults, Dr. Amaria provides and supervises the provision of evidence-based treatment of psychological and socio-emotional difficulties at SickKids and in private practice.
