Biography
Pegah completed her PhD in Rehabilitation Science (2023) at the University of Alberta. Her background is in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and her doctoral research focused on Ankle-Foot Orthoses use by young children with cerebral palsy. Pegah informed research and clinical practice for orthotic prescription and monitoring considerations using a collaborative approach with families. Her research interests include implementing family and children’s perspectives in decision-making for service delivery to enhance functioning and meaningful participation for children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions. Pegah joined CanChild in September 2023 as a postdoctoral fellow working closely with Dr. Briano Di Rezze. Her postdoctoral research aims at creating inclusive and supportive environments for autistic youth transitioning to adulthood with a focus on promoting community participation. Pegah is also evaluating training workshops for interdisciplinary clinical trainees to enhance family-centered, strength-based care for autistic children and their families.
